Firearm Transfer Services
Straightforward FFL transfers, done by the book.
City Armory is a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Whether you’re buying a firearm online, transferring between dealers, or moving something for a family member, we handle firearm transfers with the same standards we bring to our builds and armory work: clear, compliant, and efficient.
We keep the process simple—no games, no surprises. You’ll know what to expect, what to bring, and what it will cost before the paperwork ever hits the bench.
We accept incoming transfers from licensed dealers, assist with outbound shipments to other FFLs, and can facilitate in-store background checks when required by law.

How Firearm Transfers Work
If you’ve never done an FFL transfer before, the process is straightforward. Here’s what it looks like at City Armory.
- Confirm with us first. Before you place an order online, contact City Armory to confirm we’re accepting transfers and that your shipment is coming from a licensed FFL.
- Have the seller ship to City Armory. At checkout, select City Armory as your FFL (or provide our FFL info to the seller). The firearm is shipped directly to us.
- We log and secure the firearm. Once it arrives, we log it into our books and secure it in our armory. After it’s checked in, we’ll contact you for pickup.
- Complete ATF Form 4473. When you arrive, you’ll complete the federal background check form (4473) and any required state paperwork.
- Background check is processed. We submit the background check and wait for approval in accordance with federal and North Carolina law.
- Pick up your firearm. Once approved, you’ll pay the transfer fee, review the firearm, and leave with it the same day (unless law or status requires otherwise).
All transfers are subject to federal and state eligibility requirements. We reserve the right to decline any transfer that appears unlawful or unsafe.

If your address has recently changed, or you’re unsure which documents you need, contact us before you place an order so we can walk you through it.
